2017 TCS NEW YORK CITY MARATHON

Since its founding in 1891, BKS has strived to stop the cycle of poverty where it does the most damage—in early childhood.  Our six early childhood learning centers are located in public housing in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, and Brownsville. We serve nearly 400 children in full-day educational classes, each enriched with pre-literacy and language programs as well as arts and music instruction. Although two of every three children who enter BKS centers test “at-risk” for developmental delays, BKS reverses this delay as year after year more than 90% complete the BKS program on par or better than their peers across all socio-economic groups!
